Josie’s Downtown Lafayette senior session is one of my all-time favorites! When you mix Lafayette’s architecture with the late summer greens, the result is a perfect senior photo backdrop. We incorporated the courthouse, with its grand staircases and beautiful landscaping, and moved on to all sorts of nooks and crannies in the heart of downtown. Historic Lafayette provides an unmatched variety of looks and textures!
Josie graduated from Harrison High School and now studies at Purdue. During her time in college, she enjoys being part of a sorority, participating in a dance company, and staying close to her family. For her senior photos downtown, she chose a classic little black dress with pink heels to make a statement. Keep scrolling to see the beautiful blooms downtown that matched her outfit perfectly!
Late spring and late summer are my favorite times of year to shoot downtown. In late spring, you get all the greens and sunshine without any sticky heat or bugs. For the following year’s senior class, wait until the heat of mid-July leaves and shoot in August! The flowers and lush landscaping will still be around to make your senior photos pop, and you’ll have your gallery ready to celebrate senior season all year long.
I love that while some of the historic features of downtown have remained unchanged, the area also constantly changes and grows. Every year, new small businesses add their storefronts on Main Street, creating the perfect little local shopping scene! My current favorite downtown stops are Scout!, The Lobby by Greyhouse, and Scones & Doilies.
